A Day at the Pumpkin Patch

What would fall be without pumpkins? or a trip to the Pumpkin Patch? On Saturday, we went to the Pumpkin Patch with Kristi. Since she had free tickets, we went to Chesterfield Berry Farm. This was a treat because not only can you pick pumpkins but they have a number of other activities that you can do while you are there.

Here Derek and I are using the corn cannon. Its a type of gun that uses compressed air to launch dried corn cobs.
Derek and I were the only ones of the group to actually hit the target.
They had a number of animals and although you couldn't pet them you could feed them through these tubes. The animals would gather around the tubes and Derek would talk to them through the tubes. His conversations were hilarious.
Derek: "Hi chickens! (not pictured) Go eat your dinner" At first, I thought he said go be dinner" Big difference.
This is the goat house where you can put food in the cups attached to the pulley and it dumps in the little house. Needless to say the house is a popular hangout.
And my favorite Derek animal conversation "Hi cow, my name is Derek. You can say my name now." and the cow just kept on walking.
Here we are on the tractor ride.

We chickened out on the corn maze when the guy handing out maps at the start said that it takes him 25 minutes with a cheat sheet and the earlier groups averages 35 minutes. Not our idea of fun with 2 kids and a stroller.

We went to the kiddie play area instead where the kids rode the tractors and trikes.

Ok, so as you see there is lots to do. Now to the main event, a hay ride to the pumpkin patch to pick pumpkins! Again, we just can't get a decent picture of all 4 of us smiling. Poor Kristi she just kept snapping away to try and get a good one.

Yeah! I picked my pumpkin!
"Its so heavy, mommy. I can't left it!" He was obsessed with the green pumpkins and this was the one that he picked out.

Monkey see, monkey have to try to do.
Kristi excited over her one pumpkin.
"Aunt Kristi, I so tired"
All week, Derek had been talking about how he wanted a "wittle itty bitty punkin" and here is the little one that sits on our kitchen table right next to his seat.

  1. You guys look like you had a ball. Really like your pumkins Derek and Brooke. Are you going to paint or carve them? I think the small ones are so cute especially painted. Martins has some at Sycamore Square that they have painted. Love GeeGee
