Playtime

On my day off last week, I took the kids outside to get rid of all their energy. Toward the end of play time we went underneath our deck to play in Derek's pirate ship.

Pinterest Busters

I saw on a pin on Pinterest about how if you drop a ring on your curtains how it can prevent light from coming in on the sides of your curtains. I am all for trying this since Brooke's room gets so much light and she still naps twice a day.

Excuse the poor quality of the pictures, they were taken on my phone and it didn't really like the light/dark ratio.

Before

After

It didn't fix the issue in the middle but I would definitely say the sides are better than before.

"Give Me Rest"

Give Me Rest by Chris Sligh

Though I may walk through the valley
The storms of life may rage around me
The tears may line my cheeks with sadness
But you will lift my face with kindness

I’m falling to my knees
Knowing you will comfort me

I’m coming to you broken and weary
And you will give me rest
I bring all my pain, my sorrows and burdens
For you will give me rest
In my weakness you’ll be strong
And give me rest

Though I have nothing to offer
In return for what you’ve given
You’ve given life abundant freely
And I am humbled and forgiven

Outside Fun

Instead of both kids riding in the wagon on our family walks, Derek has been riding his bike. He is getting more comfortable each time we go out. The weather has been nicer in the evening so we have been going out more frequently.

And when Derek decides he has had enough, he runs and launches himself into the wagon leaving Daddy to get the bike home.

Encouraging Scripture

Below are several passages that have meant a lot to our family over the past several months.

Psalm 34:1-8

1 I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
let the humble hear and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together!
I sought the Lord, and he answered me
and delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him are radiant,
and their faces shall never be ashamed.
This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him
and saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encamps
around those who fear him, and delivers them.
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!

Psalm 73: 25+26, 28

25  Whom have I in heaven but you?
And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.
26  My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength[b] of my heart and my portion forever.

28 But for me it is good to be near God;
I have made the Lord God my refuge,
that I may tell of all your works.

Pinterest Busters

Busted! One of the things I found on Pinterest was to use a can opener for the tough blister packaging.
Can Opener

We bought Derek a smaller watch and it came in one of those annoying blister packages. So, the perfect opportunity to try this idea out!

I had such high hopes for this one but alas another busted Pinterest pin since we had to dig out the scissors to open the package.

Fun in the Tub

The title isn't exactly what you were thinking this post was about. :-) Derek has recently been playing with his trucks in our bathtub. My initial reaction was "the tub, really?" but the more I thought about it the more it makes sense.

1) His trucks fit nicely around the edge of the tub for a nice "race track".

2) For the most part, Brooke can't reach his trucks or destroy his track.

(If you look closely you can see Mater in the "pit stop" and a few trucks working "in the hole")

Let's Chip It

I would say that I am not scared of color. I am timid about painting color especially in our bedroom. If I have to look at it A LOT then I want to LOVE it. Currently, we still have builders grade beige simply because I can't decide what color to paint. Even though we finally finished our bedroom a few months
a year ago, I can't decide on the color. I have seen several ads by Sherwin Williams and pins on Pinterest advertising LetsChipIt and I thought I would try a picture of our bedspread to see what colors it would turn out.

So, here is the chip that LetsChipIt generated. I think it did a decent job picking colors but I don't think I would paint any of the colors on my wall...well, maybe the upward color but that's a stretch.

The curtain colors aren't bad either. Its had to tell from a thumbnail swatch of color but it gives me somewhere to start.

Eskimo Girl

The kids love to play dress up and their favorite item is hats. Here is Eskimo Brooke.

Ball Fun!

The kids love the "ball pit" balls they got for Christmas. There is so much too do with them! I try and change it up each time we play.

Playing "which one doesn't belong?"

Kicking....

Derek telling Brooke to put the the balls, that he just kicked out, back in the laundry basket.
