A Man's Man

Jack Jones had the strongest hand shake I have every felt, but also the biggest heart of any man. He was truly a great man and more of a father than father-in-law. A passage that was underlined in his Bible was Psalm 112, which is a Psalm that he lived out on a daily basis. I was so honored to have Jack in my life and words cannot describe the void that is left in my life now that he is in Heaven with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

1 Praise the Lord!
Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
who greatly delights in his commandments!

2 His offspring will be mighty in the land;
the generation of the upright will be blessed.

3 Wealth and riches are in his house,
and his righteousness endures forever.

4 Light dawns in the darkness for the upright;
he is gracious, merciful, and righteous.

5 It is well with the man who deals generously and lends;
who conducts his affairs with justice.

6 For the righteous will never be moved;
he will be remembered forever.

7 He is not afraid of bad news;
his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord.

8 His heart is steady; he will not be afraid,
until he looks in triumph on his adversaries.

his righteousness endures forever;
his horn is exalted in honor.

10 The wicked man sees it and is angry;
he gnashes his teeth and melts away;
the desire of the wicked will perish!

Sibling Love

Derek has done a really good job of being a big brother. He hasn't perfected it by any means but he is trying. They can now sit next to each other and not lunge at each other necks to wrestle. One night, he insisted on reading a book to Brooke and she was more than excited to listen.

My grace is sufficient

 Scavenger Hunt 2011 evidence. Sorry babe...this was the obvious choice :) This Scavenger Hunt's theme was "Go Big or Go Home" and it was intense. This one took MONTHS of planning which resulted in 2 simultaneous hunts.

While we were outside one night, Brooke thought she was hot stuff and could try to ride Derek's bike. It was quite humorous because she was trying to push it. She wants to do everything her big brother does.

Derekism - Olympics Version

We are slightly addicted to watching the Olympics and hearing Derek's version of what is going on is hilarious and its only been a few days.

Fencing:
Derek: They are sword fighting. Are they pirates?

Swimming:
He thinks that swimming caps are helmets and that their swimsuits look like underwear.
He always yells at the TV "Go Boy Go!" (doesn't matter what gender) and "they are going to jump in the big pool!"

Ping Pong/Table Tennis
Derek: What they doin'?

Derek: That not a sport. We watch my movie now.

General Dinner Conversation:
Mom: Derek, are we going to watch the Olympics tonight?
Derek: I going to be in the Olympics.
Mom: Really? What sport are you going to do?
Derek: All of them

Pinterest Busters - Painting

When we decided to redo the hall closet, we knew we needed to repaint it. The thin builders grade paint couldn't stand the wear and tear. When Chris got out the paint can, I got excited because it meant that I got to try out a pin that I found on Pinterest. {insert annoyed look from Chris}

Premise: Adding a rubber band around the paint can will reduce drips on the outside of the can. Thus creating a cleaner can.

For the most part this worked. The standard size rubber bands that I had were tough to get on. I broke two before I got one to stay on. I think a larger band would have helped.
